Yes you can. We supply the equipment and installation. More importantly, we cover most of France with English installers. With all the equipment, you will receive all the Free to Air channels without a subscription.
Which channels can I get here in France?
You can get the exact same channels here in France as you can in the UK. To see a complete list of Free to Air channels, click here. To see a list of Sky channels, click here.
What are Free to Air channels?
The Free to Air channels are all the channels you can receive from the satellite without a monthly subscription payment to Sky. These channels include all the BBC TV and Radio channels including local news, all the ITV channels, channel 4 and 5, BBC News, Sky news, CNN, Bloomberg, French News, and approximately 200+ more TV channels and 50+ radio channels. Can I receive my regional BBC and ITV channels?
Sky, Free to Air, and FreeSAT systems can receive the regional channels.
Can I receive HD here in France?
Yes you can. We have two options. Option one is to use a FreeSAT HD system. This system does NOT require a contract with Sky. The second option is to use a Sky+ HD system. This system will require a monthly subscription with Sky plus an HD fee.
Can I use my current satellite dish?
If you have a dish installed already which is at least 65 cm in diameter, you can use this dish once it is properly aligned to the correct satellite.
What way do I point my dish?
The dish needs to be pointed to the south-east. It needs an unhindered view of the horizon.
Do I need a big dish?
Your dish here in France will be slightly bigger (60-65 cm) than the one in the UK. We supply the zone-2 Sky dishes which are of the correct specification here in France. In some areas like south-eastern France (Mediterranean), a larger dish might be required.
Do I need a special TV?
If you have a reasonably modern TV you most likely will be fine. If you are planning to buy a new TV, stay with a name brand like Philips, Sony, Panasonic, LG. All these TV’s are capable of handling the different European systems.
Can I get a Sky contract here in France?
Yes, we can refer you to our business associate in the UK who can set you up with any Sky contract. No telephone hook-up is required. Please note that all boxes will receive the Free to Air channels.
Do you have systems that can record?
Yes, we supply the FreeSAT HD PVR system and the Sky+ HD system. The FreeSAT HD system does not require any contract. The Sky system will require a contract with Sky.
Do I need to update my dish installation for the record function?
Yes, you need to upgrade the dish to allow for two cables. One cable is for the channel you are watching and the second cable is for the channels you are recording.
Can you upgrade our system with a second or third cable?
Yes, we can supply the parts and installation to upgrade your system. We also can upgrade your dish and run cables to other rooms. This way you only need one dish for up to eight rooms each with their own digi box. This is a great solution for customers with Gites.
Does the box have an audio output for a surround sound system hook-up?
Yes, all our boxes have the audio outputs.
What do I need to get a system installed?
You need a wall or a chimney facing to the south-east with an unhindered view in that direction. This means that no trees or shrubs can be blocking the view of the dish. Please note that the dish position is only slightly up from horizontal.
Do I have warranty on my equipment here in France?
Yes, all equipment purchased from us carries a warranty here in France. We also warrant the quality of our work and the materials we use for our installations or repairs.
What is not covered under warranty?
Dishes that have blown out of their position due to severe weather are not covered, or equipment that has been exposed to a lightning strike. However, in these cases your damage is most likely covered by your home owners insurance. Check your policy for details.
Can I move the box to a different location?
Yes you can. It will still require to be hooked up to a properly aligned and sized satellite dish.
Can I receive local French TV and English TV?
Yes, the most economical solution is to use an Aerial antenna for French TV. This is hooked up directly to the RF-input on your TV, then connected the digi box using the Scart cable. Once you switch off the digi box, your French channels will be displayed. You can also have a second French Satellite system and digi box. This installation will require two dishes because the French channels come from a different satellite.
How do I schedule an installation?
Just give us a call in the office and explain which system you would like to order. We will take your name and address information and provide you with a price before we do the work. We require a small deposit to schedule the installation. Once the installation is complete, you can pay us the balance. It is that simple!
